Sauna Blanket GIVEAWAY – Maria Mind Body Health

Many of you know I LOVE my Bon Charge sauna blanket!

Saunas have been used for centuries as a means of relaxation and wellness. I couldn’t be more excited to do a GIVEAWAY! One of you will WIN my favorite sauna blanket!

IF YOU WIN THE BON CHARGE SAUNA BLANKET GIVEAWAY, THESE ARE SOME BENEFITS:

  1. Improved cardiovascular health

Regular sauna use has been linked to a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attacks and strokes. The heat generated by the sauna causes the blood vessels to dilate, which increases blood flow and helps to lower blood pressure. This effect is particularly beneficial for those who have high blood pressure or are at risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.

  1. Enhanced immune system

The high temperature in saunas creates an environment that stimulates the body’s immune system, leading to an increase in the production of white blood cells. This can help improve the body’s ability to fight off infections and diseases, making regular sauna use a great way to stay healthy.

  1. Improved cognitive function

Studies have shown that regular sauna use can lead to improved cognitive function, including better memory and concentration. The heat generated by the sauna has been found to increase blood flow to the brain, leading to improved brain function.

  1. Better skin health

The heat and steam from saunas can help improve skin health by opening up the pores and promoting sweat production. This helps to remove toxins and impurities from the skin, leading to a brighter and clearer complexion. In addition, regular use of sauna can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  1. Reduced stress and anxiety

Saunas are known for their relaxing and calming effects, which can help reduce stress and anxiety. The heat and steam generated by the sauna can help lower cortisol levels, which is the hormone responsible for stress. This can lead to a greater sense of calm and relaxation, making regular sauna use an effective way to manage stress and anxiety.

In conclusion, regular use of sauna can provide a range of benefits that extend beyond just relaxation and detoxification. From improved cardiovascular health to enhanced cognitive function, saunas offer a wide range of benefits that make them a great addition to any wellness routine. So, the next time you visit a spa or wellness center, be sure to take advantage of the sauna and enjoy its many benefits.

Physician Contracting 101 – Rickard & Associates

Physician contracts are often complicated and have unique terms. We help our clients understand the terms and negotiate their contracts.

We can help you stay on top of the latest news that affects your everyday life. Subscribe to stay up to date. (To subscribe to our blog ).

Many of our clients are physicians who are negotiating or renegotiating their employment contracts with their employers. Sometimes these are with health systems, hospitals, or small physician offices.

We also have clients come to us with issues after they negotiated their own contracts.

Physician contracts are unique, as they have standard employment terms, healthcare terms, and a variety of terms from the employer related to the employer, the specialty, productivity and more.

When reviewing your physician contract, make sure that you fully understand the following:

  1. Termination provisions. How can your employer terminate your agreement and how much notice are you entitled to? 90 days? more? It is essential that you know how you can be terminated and what other provisions are then invoked. If you are terminated, does that trigger repayment or non-compete provisions? Make sure you fully understand all potential consequences of termination.
  2. Breach provisions. Some physician contracts spell out a variety of breach remedies that are in addition to the remedies under the law. We have seen some extreme remedies, such as specific performance and paying liquidated damages. It is essential that you know of any potential remedies that they have.
  3. Repayment provisions. Upon expiration or termination of the agreement, are you required to repay anything? Sometimes there are requirements to repay moving bonuses, signing bonuses, etc. This could be a large amount that is due very quickly. Make sure that you know and plan for any potential repayments.
  4. Non-compete provisions. We always caution physicians against entering into agreements with non-compete provisions. While this isn’t always possible, non-compete provisions can impact your ability to work in the future. You need to know what triggers a non-compete, if there is anything you can do to work around the non-compete, and how broad the non-compete is.
  5. Compensation provisions. Compensation is often the most important provision for our clients. However, these sections are often muddled and confusing. Sometimes contracts are even silent as to how compensation will be determined in future years of the contract. Other physician contracts have productivity based compensation, which can be concerning as it leaves a lot of discretion to the employer. We recommend getting a guaranteed compensation amount for as long as possible, depending on your circumstances.

And more.

We have seen a trend of physician contracts becoming more and more complex and burdensome on the physicians.

It is essential that you negotiate your contract fully before you start work and that you fully understand your agreement.

We recommend working with an experienced healthcare attorney so that you do not tarnish your relationship with the employer and so that you are made aware of any potential pitfalls.

If you need help reviewing or negotiating your physician agreement, we can help. Contact Rickard & Associates today.

Lyft gears up to make ‘significant’ layoffs under new CEO – Business News

Lyft is preparing to lay off hundreds of employees just days after new CEO David Risher began steering the ride-hailing service with an eye toward driving down costs to help bring its fares more in line with its biggest rival, Uber.

Risher, a former Amazon executive, informed Lyft’s workforce of more than 4,000 employees in an email posted online Friday that a “significant” number of them would lose their jobs. It came at the end of his first week as Lyft’s CEO.

The note didn’t specify how many people would be jettisoned, but The Wall Street Journal reported that at least 1,200 employees would be laid off. The report cited unidentified people familiar with the cost-cutting plans.

San Francisco-based Lyft didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Risher, who had been a Lyft board member before being recruited to replace co-founder Logan Green, cited expense control as one of his top priorities during an interview with The Associated Press shortly after his hiring was announced. By ensuring Lyft is “super efficient,” Risher said the company would be in a better position to lower its fares to lure back passengers who had shifted to use Uber more frequently because that service was offering lower prices for the same trips.

It was a theme Risher emphasized again in his Friday email explaining why he decided to slash the payroll, which doesn’t include Lyft’s drivers — a group that is classified as independent contractors.

“We need to bring our costs down to deliver affordable rides, compelling earnings for drivers, and profitable growth,” wrote Risher.

Lyft intends to start notifying employees who will be laid off on Thursday when the company plans to close its offices.

It will mark the second round of recent job cuts for Lyft after shedding 700 workers last year.

Recurring waves of layoffs are emerging as a new phenomenon in the tech industry, reversing more than a decade of mostly unbridled growth.

Both Facebook owner Meta Platforms and e-commerce giant Amazon have gone through two rounds of major layoffs during the past year, in part because the pandemic fueled booming demand for digital services and products that resulted in hiring sprees that they and other tech companies began to regret as the COVID-19 threat waned and growth tapered off.

The pandemic initially walloped Lyft by drying up demand for ride-hailing services, a blow Uber was able to soften through an aggressive expansion in food delivery. That gave people a reason to continue using Uber’s app even when they were stuck at home while Lyft fell out of favour.

During the past year, it has become even clearer that consumers fell out of the Lyft habit as Uber’s ridership bounced back to pre-pandemic levels and Lyft’s losses mounted. Those struggles have caused Lyft’s stock price to plunge 69% during the past year, prompting the decision to bring in a new CEO to shake things up.

Lyft’s shares surged 6% after news of its cost-cutting plans came out to close Friday at $10.44.

Sauna Blanket Testimonies – Maria Mind Body Health

WHY CUSTOMERS LOVE THEIR SAUNA BLANKETS

Saunas have been used for centuries to promote relaxation and reduce stress. In fact, many people report feeling calm and relaxed after a sauna session. This is because the heat from the sauna causes the body to release endorphins, which are natural painkillers that promote feelings of pleasure and well-being. Endorphins are also associated with reducing stress, anxiety and depression. Therefore, it is not surprising that saunas have been shown to be effective in reducing the symptoms of anxiety and depression in some people.

Furthermore, research has shown that saunas can have a positive effect on the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system is responsible for regulating many of the body’s functions, including heart rate, breathing, and digestion. It is divided into two branches: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). The SNS is responsible for the body’s “fight or flight” response, which is triggered at times of stress or danger. The PNS, on the other hand, is responsible for the body’s “rest and digest” response, which is activated during times of relaxation.

Sauna has been shown to activate the PNS, which leads to a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure. This can promote feelings of relaxation and calmness. Additionally, sauna has been shown to increase the activity of the vagus nerve, which is a major nerve of the PNS. This can have a positive effect on mood and emotional regulation.

Finally, sauna can have a positive effect on sleep, which is an important factor in mood regulation. Sleep is crucial for maintaining good mental health, and poor sleep has been linked to an increased risk of depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. Sauna has been shown to improve sleep quality and duration, which can have a positive effect on mood and emotional well-being.

How Amazon Is Transforming Small Businesses

What do former US Marines, stay-at-home moms, retirees and Chinese business veterans all have in common? You’ve probably bought something from them on Amazon.

Third-party sellers, people who sell their products through Amazon’s marketplace, come from every walk of life and increasingly make up more and more of the online giant’s sales. Amazon launched its third-party marketplace in 2000, allowing small business owners to put their products on Amazon (for a price). There are now millions of third-party sellers on the site, and third-party sales make up about 60% of Amazon’s physical product sales, Jeff Bezos told the House of Representatives in 2020.

Third-party sellers at the center of Amazon’s ecosystem––and the debate around the company’s complicated place in the world. Is Amazon exploiting these small businesses or lifting them up?

Moira Weigel, an assistant professor of communication studies at Northeastern University, says it’s not that simple.

Moira Weigel, Northeastern University assistant professor in the department of communication studies and a member of the executive committee of women’s, gender and sexuality studies. Photo by Alyssa Stone/Northeastern University

“It’s transforming what a small business is,” Weigel says.

Weigel and her graduate research assistant Zhaozhou Dai spent the last two years talking with third-party sellers across the global e-commerce market, charting Amazon’s impact on a “hidden, yet really important part of the global consumer economy.” Her report, “Amazon’s Trickle Down Monopoly,” published this week in Data & Society, is the culmination of that work.

“To be an Amazon seller does not look much like running the mom-and-pop corner store that politicians and pundits evoke when they talk about American small business,” she adds. “As several of my interviewees put it, it typically looks more like daytrading—interpreting and trying to speculate on global data flows that you experience primarily through screens.”

The impact of that shift goes beyond Amazon and its third-party sellers. Weigel says the US, China and EU place “an enormous amount of faith” in small businesses and entrepreneurs to help remedy structural inequities and create opportunities for people.

“Entrepreneurship is a state project,” Weigel says. “We have low interest rate loans, we have tax breaks, we have subsidies for small businesses. If Amazon’s market dominance is fundamentally transforming what a small business is, that is a matter of public interest.”

For third-party sellers, the advantages of selling on Amazon are clear: They gain access to the largest online marketplace in the world. All they have to do is supply their inventory––and pay Amazon to ship, store, list and advertise it. The whole enterprise is low-risk for Amazon and high-risk, high-reward for sellers.
